In May of 1999, God led Pastor Russell Mackay to plant the Metro Baptist Church in Burnaby, BC, right in the heart of the Greater Vancouver metropolis. Throughout his years of pastoring in this multicultural city, he developed an increasing love for the many nationalities represented in his congregation. In 2025, Pastor Mackay resigned after 25 years of faithful service, and the congregation voted to install his son, Tyler, as the new pastor.
Over the years, Metro Baptist Church has moved from location to location following the Lord's provision and leading, and the church family is now seeking the Lord's will in securing a permanent meeting place to call home. Metro Baptist Church is passionate about sharing the life-changing good news of Christ, and hopes to establish a Gospel Advance Mission Centre through which His name can be further proclaimed.
